of the nfl. big name players on the move. good evening i'm jim vance. >> and i'm doreen gentzler. and we begin with new details on a story from last night. a police officer indicted on 12 counts including attempted murder after an altercation at his house and the officer is being investigated for a previous incident in which he was accused of luring a man to his house and a gun went off. meanwhile we have uncovered a third allegation of violence against this officer. craig melvin catches us up on the develops in this case. >> reporter: the 17 police officers from mount rainier work out of the headquarters behind me. and gene gillette was named best cop on that force. and while he is in a jail cell, another alleged victim has come forward. when this man saw the video he recognized him. >> it made me feel happy they got him. >> reporter: in 2008 he got in an argument at this gas station and the cops were called. officer gillette charged him with resisting arrest. frederick says while he was handcuffed on a drive back to the station he was pistol whipped. >> he looked at me and pulled his g

until we see some partly cloudy skies. out to the west, big-time thunderstorms in chicago. they saw some very large hail. i think we'll be seeing some pictures of that. we'll most likely have those tomorrow morning during our newscast starting at 4:30. nice weather. as far as our weather is concerned, one more day tomorrow and high pressure will be dominating the region. that nice weather is not going to last because it will get quite hot. the hot weather moves in on saturday, and really on sunday as that heat index could get up to 95 and maybe over 100 degrees dur during the day on sunday. wind out of the north about 5 to 10 miles per hour. warmer, still nice, 85 to 90. some areas may be over that 90-degree mark, but without the humidity, it won't be too bad out there at all. 92 degrees on saturday. with that humidity, heat index should be around 95. on sunday, i think that will be the hottest day. we do have a chance of isolated thunderstorms. one or two of those maybe on the strong side and then the fireworks mother nature doesn't bring, but maybe we do. fireworks activities will happ
talked about going big to reduce the national deficit. tonight, house speaker boehner said cutting the debt by $2 trillion is more likely, he says the gop cannot go along with the tax hikes the white house wants for a larger deal. congressional leaders are scheduled to meet tomorrow at the white house to try to broker some type of compromise. >>> she was the first lady but also a beloved member of her alexandria, virginia, community. today, former neighbors of betty ford reflect on her life. she lived with her husband in alexandria while he served in congress. the home has undergone some changes but the couple left their mark. betty's beloved flowers and family pictures remain. neighbors say she still kept in touch. >> she passed through and she wanted to know how her chameleon bushes were doing. >> she was very active as a parent in the lives of her children and their education. was always at the school. a real pta mom. >> betty ford died friday from natural causes. she was 93. a funeral is set for tuesday in california and wednesday in michigan. she will be buried on thursday nex
and now most of that has died up. still up towards the baltimore region. big storms up there all day, but back into the west frederick county, some of those storms into virginia have produced a lot of rainfall and a flash flood warning remains in effect there until 1:30 in the afternoon -- or 1:30 in the morning, rather. tomorrow afternoon, i do expect to see a lot of rain. the potential is there for us to see some flooding as well. that's why we had that flash flood watch that's in affect for just about everybody dug the day tomorrow. currently a system back to the west that we'll be watching very close ploep that system is bringing heavy rains back towards the st. louis area. make its way our way during the day tomorrow. it's going to be on the warm side, yes, it will continue to be humid but we will see some area. heavy at times that high pressure moves over and that front lingers right across our region. some locations tomorrow could pick up a lot of rain, maybe 1, 2, 3 inches of rain. before said and done, it's not going to be everywhere though. some areas may not see all that m
, the big gray dog, a 3-year-old great dane s as limp as 160 pounds of wet spaghetti, exhausted are after an adventure you have to see to believe. >> the family was having a meal at five guys and we were eating outside and we thought we'd tie the dog to the table and have a burger. and we don't know what spooked him. we don't know what happened. >> just quick-nodded his leash to the table. and the table made a noise or something and he just bolted. >> reporter: security camera video from inside the five guys showed cliff, the table and a huge red umbrella taking off. you have to know the thing that played a big role in cliff's escape was the table. it's not very heavy. you could see how he just lifted it right up. down the pedestrian walkway went cliff as he approached busy south market street and astonished frederick city police officer who grabbed the table. but the dog was running so fast and so hard, the table leg he was tied to broke off. he kept going now with just the table leg dragging behind. the five guys video shows the officer returning the table later. he's the same one who c
